If American closes the STL hub, what will happen with AE or American Conn (CHQ, TransStates,Corp Airlines) - do you think more or less for them???

It seems like Trans States, operating the American Feeder service is doing OK. However the article that I am linking, (I hope), does not speak of the ramifications of AA leaving STL as a hub airline.

Two other things could happen that would help them. AA may keep this as an RJ hub, but I doubt it. When we get some other airlines to fill in some gates with some type of a hub operation, hopefully they will see the value of the service coming in from all of the small midwestern cities, and use Trans States.

I think the possibility of American Connection downsizing and AMR Eagle coming in to replace their STL flying is very real, unfortunately.

I'm sure Chatauqua, Corporate and TranStates can feed other airlines from other cities. DL, HP and US already have utilized their services.

Here is the latest information regarding CHQ's AX service in STL starting Nov. 1st...

A. Daily block utilization will drop to 10:43 hours M-F versus 10.91 currently. That’s about a 5% reduction in aircraft utilization. Daily departures for our American Connection operation will decrease from 112 today to 82 effective Nov 1. That’s a 36% reduction. As you will see, we are being reallocated to much longer haul markets.

B. New Markets are: ATL – 2, BOS – 2, CMH – 2, DEN – 3, DSM – 3, MKE – 2, MSP – 3, BNA – 1, EWR – 4, ORF – 1, PHL – 1, RDU – 4, SAT – 4, IAD – 3, DCA – 5, ICT – 1. Our average stage length increases from 401 today to 579 effective Nov 1. That’s a 31% increase in trip duration over the present schedule.

I would not be surprised if there are some adjustments before November 1st. TransStates will have most of the other RJ flights and we have been told that Eagle will have some flights to STL. No word yet on how many or where.

Stay tuned for further updates! [Smile]
