Captain Eddie Rickenbacker was Grand Marshall of the Rose Parade in 1956........but, you already knew that.

Everyone in the airline industry, past and present, will/should feel great pride when Captain Sullenberger receives the recognition he so rightfully deserves this New Years Day in Pasadena.

Randy,

With appreciation for your historical note, I'm disappointed the parade organizers couldn't find two more autos and include the entire crew. Ah, what the heck, they'd probably have to call in fake sick days to get the time off.

As folks continue to elevate Sully to near mythical status, apart from his crew, I'm reminded of a quote from Adm. "Bull" Halsey, speaking of our heros in the WWII Pacific Theater, when he said, "There are no great men, but great challenges which ordinary men, by circumstances, are forced to meet."

Capt'n Paul,

Maybe it is more difficult to break "old habits" as we age. Having said that, it is time to confess to: having not been present for Capt'n Sully's Rose Parade performance.

This year marks about the 50th parade out of the last 50 ( not to have been attended) and once again that thing went off with the usual perfection in my absence.

Certainly, Captain Sully had an abundance of well-deserved admirers along the route.

Yes, TWA would have provided autos for the entire crew and there would have been TWA crew-members, in uniform, filling the streets......Wearing their hats [Razz] !

My very best for the New Year, Captain,

Randy

Cap'n Randy,

As usual, the weather for the Rose Parade was beautiful, unlike the 36 degrees outside as I type this in Naples, FL! Where the heck is Al Gore when I need him? I keep repeating to myself...Global Warming! Global Warming! [Big Grin]

You also have my best wishes for a healthy and Happy New Year.

Cap'n Paul
