I am going to a wedding in Santorini in June. I am looking at travel options. Considering AA to LHR and Easy Jet to ATH or Olympic from JFK to ATH. Olympic is cheap on a zonal fare but I have no clue about loads and travel experience on them. Also is the Psiri area of Athens a good area to stay in? Any input will be appreciated.

Do AA and Easy Jet fly out of the same airport? Easy Jet out of Stanstead? I do not know the part of ATH you refer to, but many Hotels are near the Central Plaza or in the area where the Hilton is. Do all airlines use the new airport or just some of them? I don't know. Could be a problem. The movie "Summer Lovers" has a lot of shots of Santorini. Santorini is lovely, enjoy.

I was looking for ways to get to ATH too. Considered AA to ZRH but the connections from there were not to good.

Easy Jet flies out of Luton and Gatwick for their Athens service. One flt. per day, each airport. Olympic is $59 JFK-ATH using A340 on a ZED.

Travel to Europe will be especially tough this summer; because of the cheap dollar Europeans will be coming to the USA in droves.

Out of JFK AA has 6 777s a day to LHR and 2 763s to CDG. If it was me I would get on the first AA flight I could to either of these cities.

Meanwhile, get a R/T ZED on BA LHR-ATH. You could then use this ticket on BA or OA LHR-ATH or AF or OA CDG-ATH. Same thing coming home. NOTE: A LHR-ATH ZED can also be used CDG-ATH but a CDG-ATH ZED can't be used LHR-ATH.

Santorini is another matter altogether and I would give serious thought to a full fare ticket or going by boat.

Please let us know how you make out.

Spider,

If you are correct that you can fly Olympic JFK-ATH for $59.00, why would anyone want to take a connecting flt. with different airlines? Tom

At this point OA JFK-ATH is my first choice but I am totally in the dark about loads to ATH in June. I have kicked around the ZED on BA from LHR-ATH. ATH to Santorini will be by ferry. Keep the suggestions rolling in. Thanks

JETNET shows the JFK-ATH fare as $59 but this doesn't include taxes and fees as you will find out when you get a PNR.

Also, you can get a good idea of the loads on JETNET, FLY ZED. (There are no "smiling faces" on OA 412 JFK-ATH for the month of June. You can also call OA res and they will give you an idea of the loads but the news will not be good. I still recommend the back-up I showed above.

Good luck.

Dick,
I have used the GO ZED site several times but have never seen the happy faces you mention. When during the process do they show up? I tried numerous city pairs to try and see but never saw a happy face or any other face.

Tom

IT'S UNDER FLYZED, NOT GOZED

JETNET
RETIREE TRAVEL
FLYZED
SCHEDULE
JFK-ATH and DAY/MONTH
ALL AIRLINES
SHOW SCHEDULE
...and now you should see the "faces" and all the connections from JFK to ATH.
