The other day I saw a wise man sitting on a knoll. It was obvious that he was wise, as he had very long hair and occasionally took a drink from a bottle.
After receiving permission to approach, he said: "Yeah, what's your problem, old man?" I answered that there was only one question to ask........"Why is it that the airline with the greatest passengers and the greatest employees is no longer around?"
After much thought, he responded: "I don't know the answer to that, but if you will refill this bottle, maybe I'll think of something". A few minutes later he possessed a new bottle of cheap wine and answered the question of the decade.
He spoke the following words: Old man, did you enjoy your years with TWA? Did the passengers enjoy their years with TWA? Did your fellow employees enjoy their years with TWA?
I answered: "Well, maybe it would be best to only speak for myself.....and the answer is "YES, it was wonderful".
Walking away, I glanced back at this most intelligent individual and suddenly realized that the only reason TWA existed was so WE could enjoy life for so many years.
TWA was a GIFT to us all.
The following was found o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBKD4EdzxK4 You-tube today:
To everyone on this board, thank you for allowing me to share the many wonderful, AND the most difficult years of our airline.

Capt Kramer:
Our thanks to you for all the joy and assurance you gave our passengers. Those were the good days and yes, we were the good people who loved our jobs and our company. That is probably why we lasted as long as we did. Good health to you and yours and thanks for posting.

Captain Dedman,
Your words are greatly appreciated..........It will always be my belief that you and all of our active employees did all the work (AND my wife Sally, who washed and ironed about a couple thousand uniform shirts...........5 days a week X 52 weeks X about ten years)......and all I did was have all the fun. Not a bad deal for an old guy.
Different thought.....Is Peru a great place to live?
We're thinking of "getting out of Dodge"
My best to you, Sir.

Peru is a very nice country but only has three major cities, Lima being the biggest and most crowded. Over 7 million people live around Lima. The old residential districts (where I grew up) are being taken over by financial and large businesses so as a result, the newer residential districts are moving towards the mountains or south towards the lovely beaches. Hired help is available and reasonable. Lima has modern hospitals. Worth a visit before you pull up stakes. Feel free to call on me for any information you might need. Capt Carr is also versed in Peru.

Captain Kramer,
It was always nice having you greet us as we arrived in LAX. Great video! I miss those days, and I only got to enjoy the last 15 years of TWA.

Captain Cook,
Thank you, Sir. A PM was sent to you a few days ago, along with an e-mail. Your comments are greatly appreciated.
Your "profile title" of "Professional Downgrader" brings a smile. A total of sixteen of my years with TWA were spent in that right seat. (The first eleven then the 16th thru the 21st.) Every one of those years was a pleasure. The company was not aware that the forth stripe on each sleeve was attached with a zipper..................We had some great chief pilots in those days and as you, Clarke, said in that famous movie; "Frankly ...........they really didn't give a ****.", so long as we wore the correct number.
Stay happy and enjoy your career, Captain, and thank you for your efforts for "our airline"...Ol' TWA.

Captain Kramer,
Your PM was received, along with the attachment. Your efforts in the latest saving grace are appreciated, even if the end result was not as wished.
I was only able to spend 3 years in the left seat at TWA before the end of the end began, but I must tell you, they were 3 of the most rewarding of my career to date. These days are very different, but still very enjoyable. I am still in a cockpit.
Once again, thanks for your efforts.
Regards,

Captain Kramer, the YouTube link you originally posted has somehow been corrupted since I originally clicked on it and viewed it. The final "n" in the link doesn't belong there. Remove it and the video will again properly display.
