Thank you for your service seems too small a sentiment for the eloquence of Capt Yellin's words and his contribution to, as he put it, ridding evil from this world.

We owe the 16MM who served and their memories - a debt of thanks which it's hard to imagine how we can pay forward.

Stories such as this bring context and testimony to Mr. Brokaw's calling this our Greatest Generation.

His comments about coming back 70 years later....makes me wonder if any of our military personel will come back to Iraq in 70 years.
