The attached referenced article concerning Flight Attendants (and TWA's own Ms. Nellie Granger) could serve as a reminder of just how lucky pilots are and have been in the past. It has long been my belief that our cabin crews “Did all the work and pilots got all (most of) the credit.”

Be that as it may, some readers might also share my gratitude for the airlines NOT requiring all of their cockpit crew members to be clones of Clark Gable and Audie Murphy.........I sure am.

an average pilot

I searched far and wide for information about Nellie Granger's subsequent life, but could find nothing except that she was promoted to the "top position among its flight attendants" and awarded a sea cruise. I guess she was long gone by the time I came to work for the airline in 1965, but perhaps Capt. Randy, who is probably the only one of us who posts here who may have encountered her, could tell us some more about her.
