After reading the reports concerning Air Asia 8501 and a number of others over the years, three little words come to mind. They were normally spoken only by the Captain, and with unquestionable authority.
Some of us will not be familiar with them, others may think back over their early flying days and recall a fellow pilot coming to their aid during an awkward or potentially dangerous situation.
Certainly, no proud professional pilot ever wanted to hear these words spoken during his or her career.(very hurtful to one’s pride). However, it would be my guess that the words, “I GOT IT!”, shouted by Captains/Instructors since flying began have saved enough lives and aircraft to fill a very large book.
Interestingly, very few Flight Recorders indicate these words having been spoken during many recent accidents. (Instead, we hear orders such as: “Pull Down”) ?????
