It has been estimated that 70,000 birds were slaughtered shortly after Captain Sully’s plane was brought down by a bunch of Canada geese caused the loss of both of his engines. This raises the question concerning what action will be forthcoming following the striking of a deer during take-off by an American Eagle jet this morning at Charlotte, North Carolina.

It is my fervent hope that the above type of hasty, cruel action will never, ever be considered as a method of preventing similar, possible collisions between aircraft and straying animals inhabiting areas which they deserve. (Patch the fence...Save our deer)

May those responsible for the safety of our Nation’s air operation apply the same consideration as they would expect were the “roles reversed”.

A “Salute” to the crew of Flt.5320.
